The Forge Tactical / OTG Tactical Basic SWAT Course is a one-week program designed to develop comprehensive fundamental skills and techniques in individual SWAT officers, focusing on the core competencies required for a SWAT officer to fully integrate into a specialized tactical team.  Students will be taught and demonstrate competency through lecture, demonstration and practical application in topics including SWAT history and modern taskings, priority of life, legal and policy issues, SWAT integration into the ICS, SWAT composition and duties, activation and risk management criteria, mental and physical stress management, basic planning considerations, CNT collaboration, individual operational skills, small team operational techniques, full team CQB procedures, linear assault techniques, arrest and control, breaching fundamentals, less lethal and chemical agent munitions fundamentals, ladders and climbing fundamentals, tactical communications, and tactical judgment.  Training will be conducted during day and night hours.

 

This is a law enforcement / military only course.  This is a TN POST compliant course.  Course tuition includes UTM kit use for those who require loaners.  For those students needing loaner kits, an additional charge of $70 will be required for UTM ammunition.

Common sense

SWAT Duty long gun with five magazines, sling and weapon light

Duty handgun with three magazines

SIMS or UTM kit for long gun and 200 rounds of ammo

Ballistic vest with armor and magazine pouches

Holster

NVGs and IR laser if equipped

Radio w/ pouch (TN Officers: with UTAC 41D programed)

IFAK and tourniquet

Hand held flashlight

Ballistic helmet

400 rounds of carbine ammunition

400 rounds of handgun ammunition

Clear eye protection

Electronic ear protection

Weather appropriate clothing

Water and snack food

Pen and notebook (this is a notes-heavy course)

Gas Mask
